Sexy Julie will never ever leave me

Four years back the sexy Neha Dhupia sizzled in the box-office hit, Julie. Is it any coincidence that in her next keenly awaited Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer Singh Is Kinng, Neha’s character name happens to be Julie yet again!

Blushes Neha, “I don’t think the Julie connection will ever leave me! Even today when I go up north and to the small towns, people say Arre Julie Aa Gayi!

Since the association is so strong, I said why not christen my character Julie!”

Was Julie the initial choice? “No! I’m not sure what they had in mind initially! I think it was Rosy!” she laughs.

On how she landed herself a juicy role in the film, Neha reveals, “Vipul’s (Shah) office approached me. I was slightly apprehensive initially because I wasn’t playing the romantic interest.

But I was assured that being the girl of the gang I’d have a plum part. And because I am a sardar in real life as well that helped!”

I don’t think the Julie connection will ever leave me! Even today when About Singh Is Kinng, she smiles confidently, “Just watch it! It’s an absolute blast!”

From Akshay Kumar to Dr. Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar is no longer just Akshay Kumar he is now Dr. Akshay Kumar as he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law Degree by University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada for his contribution to the film industry and his philanthropic work.

The star was nervous during the ceremonial occasion, “Wow! This really is one of the most nerve-racking days of my life. My hands are shaking. I don’t think even an Oscar would mean as much as this means to me.”

Humble Akki ended the occasion on a great note, “Indians believe that our success lies at the feet of our parents. It’s not I who should be receiving this award, but my parents.”

Akshay Kumar is the Indian Ambassador for the Special Olympics and has been associated with Trillium Health Care Center and Vancouver Children’s Hospital.

Congratulation Akki )

It pays to be a Garam Masala girl

Neetu Chandra made her debut with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham in ‘Garam Masala’ and ever since then there hasn’t been any looking back for this young woman.

With three successful films in a row (her ‘Traffic Signal’ was an average performer while ‘One Two Three’ has been a decent money spinner as well), Neetu Chandra is looking forward to an exciting phase ahead.

However, she continues to be rooted to reality and is far from flying high. Just recently, Nargis, Neetu’s counterpart in ‘Garam Masala’, was seen in ‘Pranali’ after quite some gap.

Does she feel that she has moved on by quite some miles while Nargis and Daisy (the third girl in ‘Garam Masala’) are still trying to find a foothold?

“I don’t think so”, reflects Neetu, “I am happy that Nargis is working and having a film release to her name. It’s a matter of whether you are working or not. As long as you are working and visible, it is a matter of time before things fall in place.”

“Yes, there is hard work involved and I have to admit that my perseverance over the years has paid. 2008 should be my year with number of prestigious films in the pipeline.

I have to watch my steps quite carefully from hereon since these are crucial times ahead for me”, says Neetu who has as many as four major films lined up for release in the second half of 2008.

While Rahul Dholakia’s ‘Mumbai Cutting’ is round the corner and is also traveling festival circuits, she also has to her name UTV/Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ with Abhay Deol and Paresh Rawal.

In addition, there is Adlabs’ ‘Flat No. 13 B’ where she is paired with Madhavan while shooting for Gary Grewal’s tentatively titled ‘Khusarprasad Ka Bhoot’ is currently on in Bhopal.

This is not all as after the success of ‘One Two Three’, the film’s producer Kumar Mangat has signed her for two more films where she would be enacting the role of a leading lady.

Apart from that, Shree Ashtvinayak, which has been fast catching up to become one of the premier film making companies of the country today, have signed Neetu Chandra for not one, but as many as three films!

It appears that a lot on her plate is indeed not too much for Neetu Chandra who is happy while being busy!

Akki gets 1.5 crore beats SRK

Akshay Kumar has taken the battle of superstars raking in moolah on TV to the different dimension altogether. We hear that this uncrowned king of box-office is getting bigger bucks than even SRK for hosting the second season of Fear Factor.

According to sources in the TV industry, Akshay will be paid Rs 1.5 crore per episode, which is more than what SRK is getting for Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? Incidentally Sallu has been booked for Rs 89 crore for 104 episodes.

Akki will host a desi version of Fear Factor with Bollywood actresses as participants. This show will enable him to pursue his passion for action as well the Khiladi will be doing his own bit of stunts as well before he goads the contestants to overcome their fears.

However, this is not the first time that Akshay will be seen in a television show. Four years ago he had hosted a martial arts show Seven Deadly Arts for National Geographic. The seven-part series took viewers on a journey through the world of martial arts.

Fear Factor is Endemols International’s biggest selling ready made formats in the world. Aired in about 106 countries around the world, it is one of the most popular reality television shows in the world with a proven track record in these countries.

The first season was aired on Sony. Shot in the exotic locales of Kuala Lampur and Malaysia and hosted by Mukul Dev, it was then the ultimate in adrenaline rush- a true test of stamina and guile for those willing to put their body and soul on the line for Rs 10 lakh.

Yuvraj wasn’t faithful to Deepika

The very gorgeous Deepika Padukone has surely created a wave amongst men after her sensational and outstanding debut with OSO, so much so that she has been seen with various men at various phases of her life, post the success of the film..

The girl was spotted first with cricketer Dhoni and later in Australia with Yuvraj Singh with whom she spent her birthday in a grand style..

Well, after all this, the girl now seems to have jumped to another shoulder and the buzz now is that she is dating newcomer and star-son, Ranbir Kapoor.

Now, what exactly is the truth?
